In this pic, taken sometime in 1983 (82?) Santiago Piedrafita '84 helps Eduardo Lage (not from EA) to maneuver his Kombi to a camping spot in the middle of nowhere. Me, Sonny Miccolis '86, Santiago '84, Eduardo (not from EA), and (I think) Shane Sponagle '87, came on this trip.

This was a downhill biking / camping trip somewhere near Itaipava. The idea was to go to the highest peaks and roads and then just ride down our bicycles at top speed! The area is great for this purpose, and we found many different great rides on asphalt and dirt - some over 20 minutes long!

Of course we were somewhat nuts as we were doing crazy speeds with no safety gear... Sonny, being the wild man he was, had 2 nasty "wipe outs" and left huge chunks of his skin behind...

Eduardo just drove the Kombi, but his "thing" was driving that car into the most impossible places, like through the woods and really high cliffs where roads just were non-existent... This was one of those trips we were lucky to come back alive and unhurt - well, except for Sonny....
